To the athletes, parents, and families of the Pine Belt:
My name is Branden Richards, and I’m the Head Coach for Hub City Lacrosse, a varsity-level high school club team based right here in Hattiesburg. If your son is serious about becoming a better athlete, a stronger competitor, and a more well-rounded young man, then lacrosse is something you should consider.
Lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country because it builds the skills and habits that lead to success — both on and off the field. Whether you’re completely new to athletics or already competing in another sport, lacrosse offers a powerful path forward.
The game’s fast pace challenges players to think critically, anticipate plays, and make quick, confident decisions under pressure. It develops speed, balance, coordination, and reaction time in ways that enhance performance in football, baseball, and every other sport.
As the sport continues to grow nationwide, so do the opportunities that come with it. College programs at every level are actively recruiting multi-sport athletes, and lacrosse is increasingly recognized as one of the best ways to open doors to scholarships and collegiate athletics.
Last season, Hub City Lacrosse reached the GHSLL playoffs, and we’re building a team this year that is capable of contending for a league title. But more importantly, our mission is to build young men who are prepared to succeed in whatever they pursue — athletes who are coachable, confident, and committed.
We welcome players of all experience levels, including those who have never picked up a stick before. We provide equipment for those who need it, and registration fee waivers are available on a scholarship basis for families with financial need. The season will start on January 5th and conclude at the end of April. Our practices are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at San Antonio Field in downtown Hattiesburg. Games usually take place on Saturday morning.
If you want to explore how lacrosse can elevate your son’s athletic development — and open new opportunities for growth and future success — I would like to talk with you. The next step is simple: contact me directly, and we will set up a time to meet and discuss how this program can fit into his journey.
We are also accepting donations. As a 503c designated non-profit, we can provide you the proper documentation to make tax season a little easier.
You can reach me here, email at Branden@hubcitylacrosse.org or by phone at 985-773-2O23. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and help you understand why lacrosse is the right choice for driven athletes in the Pine Belt.
